What to Expect from a drp Acupuncture Treatment
Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy involves the gentle application of suction cups to the skin to encourage circulation, release tension within muscles and connective tissue, and support the body’s natural healing processes. Glass or silicone cups may be used, depending on the area treated and individual needs. Suction strength and technique are always tailored to individual comfort and treatment goals, and may include methods such as moving cupping or flash cupping. Cupping is commonly used to ease muscle pain, reduce stagnation, and relieve tight or overworked areas of the body, while also promoting relaxation and improving overall blood flow. Temporary marks can occur as part of the process and usually fade within a few days. The treatment is discussed fully beforehand to ensure comfort and understanding, particularly for those new to cupping.
Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture involves the stimulation of specific points on the ear, which is understood as a microsystem reflecting the whole body. By activating these points, the treatment supports nervous system regulation and encourages the body’s natural healing response. This treatment is commonly used to support stress and anxiety, pain management, sleep, and emotional well-being. It may also be helpful for addiction support, including smoking cessation, as well as hormonal balance and digestive concerns. Auricular acupuncture is well tolerated and can be used as part of a full acupuncture treatment or as supportive care on its own.
Electro Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is a modern, evidence-based extension of traditional acupuncture. It involves applying a mild, pulsating electrical current to acupuncture needles to provide consistent and targeted stimulation of specific points or meridians. This technique is commonly used to support both chronic and acute pain, muscle tension and spasms, and certain neurological conditions. By stimulating the release of endorphins and improving circulation, electro-acupuncture may help reduce inflammation and support the body’s natural healing response. During treatment, the frequency and intensity are carefully adjusted to suit individual needs and comfort. Sensations may include a gentle tingling, mild muscle contraction, or dull ache, which is generally well tolerated.
Ear Seeds

Ear seeds offer the benefits of acupuncture without needles. They are small, gentle, and pain-free, making them a simple and non-invasive option. Applied to specific acupuncture points on the ear, ear seeds stimulate nerve endings that correspond to different areas of the body. This gentle, ongoing stimulation can help calm the nervous system, ease pain, and support overall well-being between treatments. At drp Acupuncture, ear seeds may be offered to patients who would benefit from additional support following a session. They help extend the effects of treatment by providing continued stimulation where needed.
Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional heat therapy that applies gentle warmth to specific acupuncture points or meridians to support healing and overall well-being. It is often used to encourage circulation, strengthen vitality, and address patterns of cold or deficiency within the body. Moxa is prepared from the leaves of Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort). Depending on individual needs and the area being treated, moxibustion may be applied using moxa cones of varying sizes, moxa sticks, moxa on the needle, or a moxa box. Each method is selected carefully to ensure comfort and effectiveness.
Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a traditional technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to apply gentle, unidirectional strokes along the skin. This scraping motion supports circulation and lymphatic flow, helping to release tension, reduce puffiness, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gua Sha is used to release stagnant Qi, which may contribute to pain and inflammation. Gua Sha may be used on both the face and body. Facial treatments can help reduce puffiness, improve tone, soften fine lines, and enhance overall radiance. When applied to the body, Gua Sha is commonly used to ease muscle tension, support pain relief, and reduce inflammation. The treatment also promotes deep relaxation, making it both therapeutic and restorative. Temporary marks or redness can occur as part of the process, particularly with body Gua Sha, and usually fade within a few days.
Tuning Fork Therapy

Tuning fork therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses calibrated sound frequencies to support relaxation, nervous system regulation, and overall balance. It is particularly suitable for needle-sensitive patients. Vibrating tuning forks are applied to specific acupuncture points or held within the surrounding energy field to help release tension, improve circulation, and calm the mind. Both weighted and unweighted forks may be used, with frequencies selected to support grounding, pain relief, emotional balance, and mental clarity. Tuning fork therapy is offered as a standalone treatment for deep relaxation and restoration, and may also be added to follow-up acupuncture sessions to enhance treatment outcomes.
Magnetic Acupressure Therapy

Magnetic acupressure therapy combines traditional acupressure with gentle magnetic stimulation. Small magnetic patches are applied to specific acupuncture points on the body to provide continuous, needle-free stimulation that supports circulation, eases discomfort, and helps regulate the nervous system. At drp Acupuncture, magnetic acupressure patches may be offered during follow-up acupuncture treatments to extend treatment benefits and provide additional support where appropriate. This therapy is commonly used to support pain management, stress reduction, sleep, and overall well-being. The magnets are secured with adhesive plasters and may be worn for several hours or days, allowing the effects of treatment to continue between sessions. Magnetic acupressure therapy is not suitable for individuals with pacemakers or certain medical implants. Suitability is always discussed before use.
